Filipa works as the Bass Clarinet solist and second clarinet in the „Opera Zürich“, teaches Bass Clarinet at the University in Lugano (Conservatorio della Svitzzera Italiana). She is also a member of the quintet "Reeds in Motion" and is currently attending a post graduation in historical instruments in the Scuola Cantorum in Basel. From September 2020 she will be having a temporary position in the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHDK) as a clarinet professor.

Filipa Nunes starts playing the clarinet with José António Sousa, at the age of 11. In 2002 she is accepted at the “Escola das Artes Eng.º Luiz Peter Clode“, where she studied with Robert Bramley. She finishes the Professional Clarinet Course with distinction.​She moves then to Lisbon to study at the "National Orchestral Academy" with Etiènne Lamaison and Nuno Silva. While studying there she has the opportunity to make an ongoing training at the Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra. During this period she wins an audition to play with the Portuguese Chamber Orchestra as a second clarinet and collaborates with this orchestra until she finishes her Bachelor in Lisbon. In 2010, Filipa goes to Switzerland, Basel, to study with François Benda.


She finished her Performance Master with distinction in 2012 and starts playing with many orchestras like the Orchestra of Europe, Gustav Mahler Jugend Orchester, Opernhaus Zürich, Basel Sinfonieorchester, Orchestre Symphonique du Jura, Orchestre Symphonique de Mulhouse, Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival Orchestra, Basel Sinfonietta, Stiftung Animatos Orchester, Orchestre Le Buisson Prosperant, International Ensemble Modern Akademie, Schweizer Jugend Sinfonie Orchester, Bayerischer Philharmonie, Die Junge Münchner Philharmonie, Neues Orchester Basel, among others.Filipa Nunes has won several prizes in music competitions:
